Getting Slimmer with Bikes
Have you ever consider losing weight with cycling? It is actually a good method of losing weight through exercise. Unfortunately, some people don’t like the idea of cycling outdoor because they don’t want to be too exposed to the sun rays or share the street with motor-bikers or cars. As for cycling indoor using stationary bike, most women would easily get bored with it and choose another exercise-equipment after 5 or 10 minutes.
Cycling, when performed the right way, can actually burn 300 calories within an hour. The key is: paying attention on your positions as well as adding durability and challenges.
There are three positions you should take during exercising with stationary bike. The first position is your sitting position: bent your body with your hands holding the center of the handlebar. The second: lift your body straight up and away from the saddle, while your hands holding the edges of the handlebars. The third position: make sure your bottom is away from the saddle, elongate the spine, and place your hands casually on the edges of the handlebars.
To add durability to the wheels, turn a small knob on the cross bike clockwise. This will make the pedals slightly heavier and good for cardio exercise. You can also adjust the resistance knob, which will make you feel as if you are cycling uphill. Do this with the first position – sitting on the saddle, or the third position – lifting up the buttocks.
Try to sprint, or fast-pedaling with interval in any sitting position.
While doing the second position where your body is half-standing, use your body core to hold your body on the saddle to avoid knee-tension.
If you think cycling will make you end up with bigger thighs or calves, according to Laurie Cole, an instructor of SoulCycle studio in New York City, it is not true. The quick pedal rotation will actually tone your legs and make them look more slender. At the same time, they will even build your endurance. Cole also added if you want to tone your stomach muscles, flatten your stomach while pedaling and imagine that your belly button is pulled back.
