Glyconutrients - Health Researchers Discover Missing Link

Glyconutrients are being hailed by many researchers as the most important natural health discovery since vitamins and minerals were discovered in the 1930s.
The word glyco is Greek for sweet, so glyconutrient means sweet nutrient. Researchers have discovered that as cells throughout the body touch each other, they communicate their needs (nutrition, waste removal, hormones, etc.) through glyconutrients. The 1999 Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded for this discovery!

There are more than 200 known monosaccharides (simple sugars) existing in nature and eight of these are essential for this cellular communication. The problem is that our modern diet is seriously deficient in all but two of these sugars.

In 1996, Harper’s Biochemistry, a prominent medical text book, added a new chapter called glycoproteins. Glyconutrients attach to our cell surfaces to form glycoproteins for cellular communication. Those who don’t produce all eight glyconutrients will, over time, develop problems and disease conditions in their body. Without these surface sugars, your body’s communication system breaks down, compromising your immune system, which can result in a vast number of problems. Some examples are: Autoimmune diseases such as MS, Lupus, Fibromyalgia and Arthritis. Hormones could be misdirected, leaving you with emotional and physical problems, while cells may not get the vitamins and minerals they need, resulting in all kinds of possible disesase conditions and it is an established fact that all health, or the lack of it, begins at the cellular level.

Please note also, that studies done over the years have shown that breast fed babies, as they were noted and traced over time, were usually doing better emotionally and physically, than their formula fed counterparts. There were various reasons and theories suggested for this, but one major and important factor has come to light. Human breast milk contains six of the eight essential glyconutrients.

The process to make these eight glyconutrients is very complex and requires optimum nutrition, which is a big problem for most people when you consider our modern, overprocessed, nutrient deficient diet, along with toxins and stress.
This is also why the average person’s immune system gets weaker every year.

Scientists describe glyconutrients as the “missing link” in nutrition because of their vital role in disease prevention and immune system restoration. Also, because they are completely natural, supplementing with glyconutrients will not interfere with any prescription drugs a person may be taking.

It is also interesting that various plants produce glyconutrients, but only in the final stages of ripening. Glyconutrients do not develop unless the fruit is ripened while still on the plant or vine. So, even organic foods are missing these vital elements due to being picked green and most foods are harvested green because ripe fruits will not keep for long. So, this solves another mystery in our nutritional chain.

There has also been much clinical testing of glyconutrients on various disorders, chronic conditions, and diseases, resulting in miraculous recoveries from conditions previously considered hopeless or incurable.

So, you can now see why many researchers are calling glyconutrients the most important health discovery of the century and predicting that it will revolutionize our health care system in the coming decade!
