High-Fat Breakfasts Trigger Inflammation

High FatMost women don’t think much about blood vessel health – but they should. Healthy blood vessels help fight disease that can cause heart attacks and strokes, prevent weight gain, and maintains blood flow essential to a healthy energy level and sex drive. The cells lining the arteries can get inflamed, much like the way your body reacts to a sprained ankle or the flu. High blood fats are major contributors to blood vessel inflammation.

University of Buffalo researchers– led by Dr. Paresh Dandona– found that giving subjects a MacDonald’s breakfast consisting of an Egg McMuffin, Sausage McMuffin and two servings of hash browns caused cell inflammation that lasted two to three hours after the meal.

The study suggests that eating meals high in fat and simple carbohydrates on a regular basis could leave the blood vessels in a constant state of inflammation that promotes blood vessels diseases, hearth attacks and strokes. Inflammation also saps your energy level, leaving you depressed and unmotivated. Avoid fat-laden meals that are high in calories. Your blood vessels will thank you.
